As with many conditions, the earlier ADHD can be diagnosed, the better the outcomes usually are. Considering a professional ADHD assessment is a crucial step. It not only helps in understanding your child’s strengths but also provides insights into effective strategies for managing the condition. Additionally, being aware of the ADHD assessment cost in Melbourne ensures you can make informed decisions to support your child in portraying their true abilities.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Assessment’s cover:

  • Verbal comprehension
  • Visual spatial awareness
  • Fluid reasoning
  • Working memory
  • Processing speed

Noah Mankowitz’s ADHD assessment cost remain below the recommended Australian Psychological Society guidelines

A formal assessment of children ages 6 and above with ADHD, will include:

The comprehensive evaluation will gather information about the child’s behavior at home, at school, and during activities such as sports or scouting. It will include input from parents or guardians, childcare providers, teachers, school staff, and any mental health professionals involved in the child’s care. This is important because ADHD symptoms may appear in some settings but not in others.

Hearing from these different adults helps identify where and why certain behaviors occur. Their insights can also help determine whether other factors may be contributing to the behaviors, which could require a different approach to treatment.

The process may include:

  • Interviewing the parent and child
  • Reviewing family medical history, especially if other family members have ADHD
  • Parent- and teacher-completed various child behavior rating scales
  • Parent self-reports of parenting style
  • Spending time with the child to observe behavior
  • Clinic-based psychological tests
  • Intelligence testing or educational achievement testing
  • A child will be asked to also complete in writing or verbally various screeners correlating with ADHD symptoms
